E. Ross Ura grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan. From a young age she actively created everything from comics, short fiction and films, visual art, and music.
An enthusiast for all parts of the comics process, Ross works as a writer, artist, and letterer. She produces the weekly webcomics, 5 x 3and Buy/Sell/Exiton Tapastic. The stick figures of 5 x 3 made their first in-print appearance in 5 x 3: All the Wit You Can Fit on the Back of A Note Card in the summer of 2014. In the spring of 2016, 5 x 3 went to the printers again in the first full color 5 x 3 Print Collectionafter being successfully launched on Kickstarter. In addition, she has produced mini comics in a variety of styles and genres.
In high school Ross excelled in music, performing with and composing for orchestras, wind bands, percussion ensembles, marching bands, jazz bands, choirs, and pop/rock groups. Ross earned her Bachelor of Music in Composition with a minor in Performing Arts Management from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in the Spring of 2015.
Ross has performed with some of the internationally recognized ensembles of the University of Michigan, including the Michigan Marching Band and Concert Band, as well as the World Percussion Ensemble and numerous ad-hoc chamber ensembles. She has studied with such notable composers as Michael Daugherty, Paul Schoenfield, Erik Santos, and Kristin Kuster.
